General Summary

Once Russia's monopoly in the sky, Aeroflot was broken up into numerous "baby flots" and Aeroflot International Airlines (AIA). AIA flies to 100 different countries and is expanding its presence on the domestic market. AIA recently signed a deal with Continental Airlines that will enable AIA to penetrate the US market, where it plans to issue ADR's later this year. AIA has taken great strides in becoming a "friendlier" airline by substantially increasing the number of its services and routes. The airliner's General Director, Valery Okulov, is President Boris Yeltsin's son-in-law.
